About Us

Our History
Algonquin Nation Human Resources & Sustainable Development Corporation (ANHRSD Corp.) was created in 1995 with the mandate to deliver training and employment programs under the Regional Bilateral Agreement (RBA). This early framework remained in place until 1998.
In 1996, the Quebec First Nations and Human Resources Development Canada signed a new form of RBA with the goal of transferring full jurisdiction over training and workforce development to First Nations authorities. Under this agreement, the original Pathways to Success model was adapted, and four distinct RBAs were established in Quebec:
- One with the Inuit Nation
- One with the Cree Nation
- One with the Algonquin communities of Barrier Lake, Wolf Lake, and Temiskaming
- One with 30 First Nations communities under the AFNQL umbrella
The Inuit, Cree, and Algonquin nations each created their own operational structures to manage these new responsibilities.
In 1999, ANHRSD Corp. became an Aboriginal Human Resources and Development Agreement (AHRDA) holder. With a mandate from its Board of Directors, ANHRSD was authorized to act as an agent for its member First Nations in delivering human resource development programs. Its responsibilities included promoting capacity building in member communities, expanding access to employment and training opportunities, and advancing sustainable economic development within Algonquin traditional territory.
Since then, ANHRSD has continued to evolve, adapting to federal Indigenous labour market strategies such as the Aboriginal Skills and Employment Training Strategy (ASETS) and, today, the Indigenous Skills and Employment Training (ISET) Program
